Don't give up, Neb (I know you won't do it)

, originally uploaded by Raul Crimson.

Some days ago i met Neb while she was working on her installation in SL4B, she was nervous trying to build something good, building and rebuilding ideas. After a couple of days there was her work, i just find a word right now to define it: GOOD!
After the opening, SL4B sims are the laggiest in all the grid. Now is this what you can find with this note:

Second Life Fourth Birthday Celebration

I have gone insane with rage over this fiasco.

I had a build here but I’ve torn it down, what’s the point?? Sim performance is non-existent here. I put a lot of emotion and effort into my installation and it was for NOTHING!!

You win, SL! I give up!!

From here i send to Neb a big hug, Mr. Peenie does it too.

I do so hope Nebulosus doesn’t give up on SL. It’s such a pity she felt forced to do this. I have heard so many people with stories of how horrendous it was at SL4B, but I spent a couple of hours there on Sunday, with no problems at all. Admittedly, being on UK time, I was there out of peak hours, but there were still 25-35 people in most of the sims.

It was an amazing place to be, wandering around amongst so many wonderful creations and seeing a bit of SLs history. I saw Nebs sign and felt very sad, though it also is part of the history, making a statement, as it does, about the poor performance and standards we put up with so often.

I am hoping to get back to the birthday sims this week, as I only got just over halfway round before running out of time. I never did get to see your exhibit, Raul!! Hopefully, I’ll have another trouble free session, but my heart goes out to all the visitors and exhibitors for whom the whole experience has been a nightmare.

We have already lost Arahan and his vision, please don’t let us lose any more talented, far seeing, individuals from the grid.

Phoenix, i think Neb just gave up SL4B. Her installation is really good and i think she will rezz it on his plot “Intermundia” (i think is the name). I was yesterday during my “artist hour” and was hard to be there. My display, as the Neb’s one, is in a sim crossing, and going from one side to another of the display means go underground for a while, lossing part of your attachments.
Philip Linden tried to do a speach in the opening ceremony with voice, it was impossible for him to log in, so imagine how are things normally at SL4B.
A lot of people did a great work there, all residents, but Linden Lab didn’t do their part, improving stability and grid performance. I hope in SL5B we can laugh about all this.

I am glad to hear it is only SL4B that Neb is giving up on. I heard about Philip’s speech – or lack of it. Sounds to me like the powers that be didn’t give a moments thought to how these sims would stand up to the strain :-( Such as pity, as this should have been such a wonderful, inspiring community event for all concerned. Lets hope that, as you say, next year we will be able to look back on this and laugh.
