Faces of me

Faces of me

Faces of me, originally uploaded by Raul Crimson.

I think that Second Life is a place of expression. I try to express myself through photography in Flickr, through building. Other way to express yourself it through your appearance.

Moreover, appearance can be a way to explore inside you, to discover more of you.

We are like diamonds, full of facets that reflect light in different angles. This five avatars are some sides of me, wanted to put them together, wanted to show all we have more than one side.

My uber-masculine side, my femenine side, my naughty side (Mr. Peenie :-P ) and my sweet side, and me in the middle. We all live together with (almost) no conflicts.

When my uber-masculine side shows his impulsiveness then the femenine side calm the situation, when the naughty side tryes to do a bad joke then the sweet side changes a bit the joke just for not to hurt people. All that doesn’t mean conflict, just balance.

Exploring your femenine side when you are a man is the hardest part. Not for myself, but for some other people. I normally use my female avatar for photography or in private, once i used it for exploring the grid a lot of time ago. When i was just teleported to Cocololo Island (i like that place) there was a girl there, we started to talk, after one or two minutes she asked if i was a man or a woman IRL because my name is a male name. I told her i’m a man and then changed to my “standard” avatar, but in my mind the idea was: “Should it matter if i’m a man or a woman? You want to talk or you want to fuck?”. Maybe she asked that with a good intention, but was a bit unpleasant to fell questioned about my appearance just because my avatar’s gender was not the same as my RL gender.

Almost nobody will question you if you want to be a neko, a gorean, a vampire, etc… (well, maybe if you want to decide to be a furry will be almost the same, i know it from experience, but this will be another story)

Being able to clearly realise and express different aspects of your personality is one of the great wonders of Second Life, and you are doing a brilliant job of it Raul. You have an amazingly balanced little family there, and quite some courage to share them all with us as easily and happily as you do. Thank you :)

  2. Raul Crimson says :

Thanks for this comment, Wolf, friends like you help to have the courage, well, Mr. Peenie helps too :-P

I <3 Mr. Peenie. He still owes me a dance :)

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around what I want to write for a gender in SL post, but I think the whole “does real gender matter” question will be a part of it. It seems to be a touchy point with many people, but unless you’re getting into a relationship with someone, why does it matter so much?

This diamond, in particular, is exceedingly brilliant and reflects the many facets of creation.

Thanks, love, you are my diamond :-)

@ Chloe: You are right, in a relationship, even the ones just in SL i think being truly is important, in fact more than gender itself.
I’ll tell Mr. Peenie, sure he will love to dance with you :-P
