Nostalgia, a Windlight setting by AM Radio

AM Radio, the creator the The Far Away (AKA The Wheatfield) (SLurl), posted a really nice image and was the first resident i know to share a Windlight sky setting with all.

You can touch the link to the image to have more information, anyway, i made part of the work to help and make it a bit easier:

  • Download the file Nostalgia.xml here or in the BOX widget in the right side column of this page.
  • Then move the file Nostalgia.xml to the following folder:
    • In a Windows PC move it to C: \ Program Files \ SecondLifeWindLight \ app_settings \ windlight \ skies

    • In Mac go to the Application folder or to the one you have the Second Life Windlight viewer, Ctrl+click it and select “Explore the package” or something like that (sorry, my Mac OS X is in spanish). Then open the folders Windlight, app_settings, windlight, skies and save the file there (I’ll try to update this info checking better my Mac).

  • Restart Windlight viewer.
  • Select Nostalgia in the Sky Presets menu.

Sorry, i don’t know how to do in it Linux, but sure someone can comment here and give the info.

I’d like to say from here thanks again to AM Radio for sharing this with all the residents and to remind you that The Far Away is part of a fund rising for a charity that promotes sustainable agriculture projects around the world. Take a look at http://www.heifer.org/

Raul…just wanted to thank you so much for putting this up here. When AM put it up on Flickr, which I thought was so nice of him to do, I never could get it to work right. I redid it a couple of times assuming I must have done something wrong. Still don’t know what I was doing wrong, but every time I chose the Nostalgia setting, it crashed me out of SL immediately.

I came across this post of yours after reading on your Flickr site that you needed time away for a bit. I understand totally. Interactions between people can get quite complex at times, and sometimes it just gets to be too much…on so many levels. I always like looking at your pics, so hope you will be back when you feel up to it.

Anyway..thanks for making a file to download for the Nostalgia setting, because this worked perfectly for me….no crashes :)

    Thanks for the comment, Hitomi.

AM is a great creator. Not only becuase his quality, also becuase he built a space for all, to enjoy it and to raise money for a good cause.
When i saw his pic in Flickr and the setting for the Nostalgia sky setting for Windlight i thought he was so generous sharing it.

Even was quite easy i thought will be a good idea to make the process a bit easier for people and help AM to share this setting. Mr. Radio was really nice commenting here.

About my “Flickr holiday”, well, you know, sometimes is good to be out of the noise and try to find your stability, if this sounds too zen is because maybe it is. ;-)

awesome and so easy to load..thank you AM and thank you Raul for providing this here!!

  6. Raul Crimson says :

Thanks, Stephen!!! All the merit should go to AM, i just tried to help what i thought was a great and generous idea.

  7. Opensource Obscure says :

    Linux instructions are pretty similar:
download the file and copy it to app_settings/windlight/skies/

app_settings/ exact location in your hard disk depends on where you extracted the archive when you installed the Second Life client.

Thanks, Opensource, for sharing this information!
