That images are mine, deck!

Thief!, originally uploaded by Raul Crimson.

Yesterday I was working on a project when my friend FiDa Pau IM’ed me. After talking for a while about this and that he asked me if I was modelling a lot lately. I was confussed for the question, then he told me he was exploring the grid to find some rental homes and he found a place where they had some pics of me.

In the first moment I thought it may be some of the framed images I have in some gallery for sale, but anyway I asked him to TPme.

And when i arrived I saw THIS. That guy was using not one but TWO of my images to advertise a Gay Club, of course, without my permission.

The images are copyrighted and published in Flickr, as you can see here and here.

I asked the guy to delete the images as soon as possible, talking about my rights over them, and i really hope he will delete them. That is the reason to blur a bit the name of the club and not to say (for the moment) the name of the “image thief”.

What pisses me off is just that if someone ask permission to use one of my pics I normally say yes (except if it is for commercial porposes, then i say yes after talking about money), so before using the pics he may ask.

Of course i understand that some people is having really BIG problems with “content thiefs”, and mine is just a small problem. The point is that he was not just downloading the pics to his computer because he liked them, or using them as frames at his virtual home (I can understand this kind of “personal” use, even is not legal either), he downloaded my pictures, edited them a bit, and uses them for commercial porposes (advertise, in this case), and that’s wrong.

Thanks to all the people that shown his support, it was really helping, because yesterday I was feeling upset and sad, all that support helped me to feel not alone.

UPDATE (Apr, 01 2008): Yay!! All fixed, take a look at next post to see the solution.

Hi-Res Snapshots doesn't work for me in Windlight

Yes, they don’t work for me. :-( And that, for a virtual photography lover is not a cool thing.

After posting the problem in the JIRA last december the only answer i had was a note from Torley saying they were closing the “Issue” because they “Need more info”. Anyway, Windlight is now a Release Candidate (actually RC3) and i still have the same problem.

Let my show you the images, so you will see the difference:

Normal Snapshot

Then without moving the cam i took this snapshot in Hi-Res:

This images have no edition, are as they were took from SL.

I don’t know if that’s happening only to some people or to a large number of people, i tried to find another JIRA issue about that and didn’t found one.

If you have the same problem, tell me, please, and if you want to help me, please, vote on JIRA issue #VWR-3711. Thanks.

inSL™ logo: Confussed!

inSL™ logo

Linden Lab® has decided to start some policies for the protection of their trademarks and registered names. Well, actually I think that is something they had to do a lot of time ago because they were almost losing control over their brands.

In a post in the Official Linden Blog they explained their new Second Life® Brand Center, where you can find the rules, guidelines, and all that stuff about the use of the Linden Lab® trademarks and registered names.

For what i read I think they want to control the use of their registered names as something that some people is trying to register already (as the infamous case of the “SLart” trademark) and, at the same time have some control about the use of their logos.

For what I understood that only affects to the businesses, web-pages, blogs and all that operating about SL® but outside SL® itself. Anyway, from now you can’t register brands including SL®, Second Life®, Linden®, or any Linden Lab® registered brand.

For the moment all the information is quite confusing, but will be good you take a look at the blog post I mentioned above. More interesting thoughts about this in a post in Vint Falken’s blog and in this other in Looker Lumet’s blog.

Anyway, just in case, I asked Linden Lab® permission for the use of the inSL™ logo.

Space Oddity

Just posted on my YouTube channel this machinima i made. As always, you can find the movie, here in this post, or in the Vod:Pod widget on the right column.

When I was a child i wanted to be an astronaut. Had a lot of dreams of me as a “Space Captain” of a big “Space Ship” going from one planet to other. I was a big fan of any “space” TV program, movie or whatever. Of course, after some years I became more “realistic” and decided to find a job here, down in Earth.

Anyway, some weeks ago i had a dream. I was floating in space, alone, in silence, totally lost but in peace. Actually the dream was longer, but I just remember that part of it. I used Second Life to show in images that dream… so… that is what Second Life is about? About to build dreams?
