Hi-Res Snapshots doesn't work for me in Windlight
Yes, they don’t work for me.
And that, for a virtual photography lover is not a cool thing.
After posting the problem in the JIRA last december the only answer i had was a note from Torley saying they were closing the “Issue” because they “Need more info”. Anyway, Windlight is now a Release Candidate (actually RC3) and i still have the same problem.
Let my show you the images, so you will see the difference:
Normal snapshot:

Then without moving the cam i took this snapshot in Hi-Res:

This images have no edition, are as they were took from SL.
I don’t know if that’s happening only to some people or to a large number of people, i tried to find another JIRA issue about that and didn’t found one.
If you have the same problem, tell me, please, and if you want to help me, please, vote on JIRA issue #VWR-3711. Thanks.

I’ll check on this and let you know if i have the same problem (/me never used hi res)
Eek! That’s terrible. I don’t use windlight right now, so I can’t say if I would have the same problem. I won’t use windlight until it’s an official viewer.
Will check hi-res during the day. But even in normal resolution WL crashes in 70% of attempts. Sometimes, when I am lucky it crash after saving a file to the disk, sometimes I don’t even get that one shot.
Thanks, Chrisy, Tober and Dandellion! I can understand they still need to fix some things, but Windlight® is now a Release Candidate, so it means it will be the official viewer in some weeks!!!
I will be really happy if you can check it, i know not everybody uses hi-res but i do a lot of work as photographer and for me is a really needed tool.
Thanks again.
I had a problem too with high res pictures, but nothing compared to this. But it was solved without further notice. Perhaps it was a wrong setting of my preferences, I will never be able to tell. But for the moment my high res pictures work fine.
Perhaps it is only a setting too, maybe in Windows? Did you compare your windows settings with the SL screen? Just a thought…..
Thanks for the feedback, Looker, well, i don’t use Windows, i’m a Mac. And maybe it can be what you are telling, but then why works ok with “normal” of “First Look Dazzle” viewers and just have problems with windlight?
Hi-res works for me. (WindLight, nVidia)
Thanks for the feedback, Dandellion, maybe is a problem related to Macs.
Could be. I tested under Linux, Ubuntu 7.10
I checked hi-res shots,i don’t really see a problem on mine though.(Or can’t really see it,sorry).:D
Thanks again, Dandellion and Chrisy. I think the most possible option is that this issue is just related to the Mac version of the client, that happened with a glitch on land textures that affected just to Mac users.
That’s a high-rez snapshot?
I’m thinking that maybe your video card is what’s failing you. That “high rez” snapshot looks awful, even on the largest size view.
Well, Tenshi, that doens’t happen in “No Windlight” viewers, and only in Hi-Res snapshots, not sure if is my video card.
