Blowing houses

Actually this is one of the funniest things to do in Second Life. :-D

Well, not really, but anyway is a fun thing to do, specially because it relaxes a lot. Just rezz your house and blow it!!!

Thanks to Havok 4 (the new physical engine on Second Life servers) it works pretty good, not adding too much lag to the server.

Is quite easy to do: rez a house or a big object made with a lot of prims (you need “MOD” and “COPY” permissions on that object), keeping the object selected unlink it with CTRL + SHIFT + L or via menu Tools > Unlink. Then, keeping all the prims still selected make them Temporary (i’m sure you don’t want to be cleaning all the prims after the explosion, and well, they can fall in other’s plots) and Physical.

When you close the Edit window the object will explode… BOOOOOM!

And remember, never try this without the supervision of an adult. ;-)

  2. Kisa Naumova says :

I love the one that flies off on its own at the end to the left. Wheeeeeeeee! Look at him go!

    (I am 12)

  3. Raul Crimson says :

Yes, Kisa, hahaha, like in slow motion! I swear i didn’t edited the speed of the movie itself.

  4. Smiley Barry says :

Haha, very nice Raul! It’s a danger we all must face if when moving our houses we “accidentally” click the “Physical” checkbox. ;-)

P.S.: I feel the need to tell you it’s Havok and not Havoc. ‘^_^

  5. Raul Crimson says :

  8. PocoLoco Darwin says :

    This was hilarious.
And reminds me with a groan of some of the growing pains
many are having on the OpenSimulator grid. Where these explosions are
frequent but very unexpected (problems with the linked prim code)
Can’t wait to try this out. Your explanation is clear…
and I think it may even be scriptable. That would be so cool.
A prim that rezzes a house, then does some llPrimitiveParams() magic
then does some MORE llPrimParams() magic and ….
    BOOM!

hahahhaaha… can’t wait…right.. could wait long enuf to make this post
    /me smiles broadly

    tnx for sharing,
    luv the vodpod UI

  9. Raul Crimson says :

Ha ha ha, PocoLoco!!! Please, share your experiments, i’m sure they will be fun. And if you make a script… share it too, i’m terrible scripting. :-P
