Let's talk about SLex… again

After reading some posts in Dandellion Kimban’s blog (one of my favourites in the SLblogosphere) i was thinking in SLex (cybering in SL), about what i think about it, what i like, what i dislike…

Actually this is not my first post about SLex, posted one some time ago, but was a meme so i was not so free to talk about it.

I practice SLex, i like it (with the right partner, exactly the same as RL) but well, SLex has different “rules”, i mean, it works in a different way. I think SLex is mainly intellectual, is made with imagination, words, small gestures… at least the good one, just jumping in a couple of balls is not SLex, is crappy sex animation.

As in RL i need some “closeness” in SL, i don’t mean to be long time friends, just to have some conversation before at least. What makes me attracted to someone uses to be the feeling of that intellectuality i was talking about before, the sense of humour, the way someone expresses himself with his avatar and his words. To fell all this, to feel attracted i need to know a bit someone, maybe just some minutes, a couple of hours, some days… it depends. “Physically” in SL what attracts me is more or less the same as RL, but not always, sometimes i’m attracted to non-human avatars, well actually to how their typists expressed themselves through them. The average guy that makes me feel “hawt” is male, human, masculine appearance and attitude, a bit “badass” look, good sense of humour, drama-free, taking care of his appearance, good conversation, … Ok, i know is the perfect guy but i’m talking about average, lol, i mean i felt attracted to some people that were not matching some of the requirements. I remember once, a lot of time ago, i was really attracted by a furry guy, he was masculine and incredibly sensual, and over all funny, we had a nice relationship.

In the SLex moment itself i’m more of words too. Chat or voice are different experiences, both interesting and both with their particular “languages” and ways of acting, it will depend on the partner i will prefer voice or chat, or maybe it will depend on the day. What i really enjoy is a mix of animations and words (chat or voice), but i had great experiences using just words without animations, using exclusively animations and “Xcite chat” is sad someway and over all quite empty and boring.

Language is a funny thing in SLex, as you may know i’m not native english but my SLex partners were basically native-english, that causes interesting situations. In chat, well, i have to confess i don’t understand some words becuase are slang or are the kind of words one can’t find in the dictionary, neither is a good moment to ask what it means so i just take note and try to know what they mean later or just imagine their meaning in the context. In voice is easier, more “fluent”, more “personal”. SLex in voice is something i prefer to do with really close people, i mean, with an usual SLover. Anyway, i have a deep voice and a strong Spanish accent, and… well… normally people find it hot. This way voice becomes another instrument. ;-)

I agree with you in all words, slex is much more that jump on the pose balls, it’s all relation and talk that u have with the partner. But the different languages sometimes can be a mess when some one does not understand all english or partner language.

I remember that there are two people behind the screen so it’s more playful if there is a nice communication :)

As you said, SLex (well, and sex itself) is communication, that’s what makes it so interesting, at least under my view.

“In the SLex moment itself i’m more of words too.” I agree with that for 200% ;-) (And have actually blogged about it a while ago).
And concerning not being native english and sometimes having to guess about the meaning: that sounded very familiar as well! I’ve improved (ehhrrmm) my English quite a lot past year *giggles* and my current situation is even more complicated, as my partner is speaking German and I am speaking English, where my native language is Dutch :D

I know how deep that Spanish voice of yours is mistah, and… it is most definately hot!

That being said, you know I find SLex (which is still easily mistaken with SLEx / SLX) something that you’re either for, or against. Some people will appreciate it, others won’t.

I tried both “lingual” SLex as “performing” SLex, and… well, the “lingual” is waaaaaay better!
I’ll never forget the first time Love and I did it “lingual”: I was dancing in a camping dance cage, Love was standing in front of it, I never left the cage, but the conversation was sizzling hot! This was before voice came to SL even, so typing was all we could do!

    Good times ;)

I always copied those sessions into a word file and saved it (I think I still have some) and searched the words afterwards, or asked other people to figure out what they mean.

Nowadays, I have to miss out on it cuz Love and I are hardly online at the same time anymore :(

Oh well, with some luck I can move out and go live on my own in a couple months, closer to the train station in my city, leading to more spare time, so I can sleep longer in the morning, and can stay up a bit later when Love gets online ;)

Lol, didn’t know you were Dutch, Gany ;-)

    I aint, I’m Belgian

Thanks for sharing, Zippora and Gany, is interesting we have a common vision about some parts of SLex, someway i fell a bit less lonely ;-)
