@ Sahoni: The motivation is to manipulate the visits statistics, this way their place shows first in search (they appear from most to less visited).

Having bots as clothing models, or skin and shape models is ok, having them as greeters may be ok too, that may mean one or two... even three bots. But in the pic i show there were more than 20 bots, and, as you can imagine, that affects seriously sim (and even grid) performance.

@ Stein: That's another bad use of the bots, a really bad one, because in this case are even taking the money.

I manage a shopping area and have had a small camping area there where campers can earn some lindens and for a long time, we had polite campers. A few weeks ago, bots infested the camping area and took the legitimate campers' accrued monies. I had to completely shut down the camping area. It sucked having to do that...

I have never understood the use of bots. Everyone I know doesn't return to those sims when they encounter a situation like the one you've described. So why use them? The visitors find out it is a lie and they have been deceived and they dont' want to go back. What is the motivation for land owners to use bots?

"...Actually nobody wins with them but the land owners."

How do the land owners win? :(
