So yes… i’m back. It’s not i was out for a really long time, but my lifes (both, first and second) were pretty busy in so many ways. In first life, well, basically summer holidays, traveling and being out of town and far away from computers for almost a month. I’m sure you all will understand this, sometimes this is something we all need, at least i so need it sometimes.

About Second Life, well, in the last months i was enjoying being part of the Soup Radio project with a really wonderful team of people, sadly this project is finished now, but i’m proud and happy about the work on it. Well, the project is not exactly finished, but we are planning the last show of Soup Radio for October 1st. From here i would like to give a huge hug to all the Soup Radio team, specially Arahan Cleveau, for all the help, support and ideas.

So, since i’m back i would like to say a couple more of things. First, right now i’m building an installation for Burn2 so i will inform more in this blog, about my project and about Burn2 itself. And second… thanks for keep reading my blog! *Raul sings “Welcome back” to himself*

This month our usual shows are replaced by a special extended edition dedicated to SL8B (Second Life 8th Birthday). The regular crew is joined by Dekka Raymaker andKhamudy Mannonen, and together they explore the event and visit a number of locations, including work by Sanura Sakai & Andel Rhiadra, windyy Lane, Caro Fayray, Eupalinos Ujagin & Simotron Aquila, Madpea Productions, LEA, Shellina Winkler, Claudia222 Jewell, Harter Fall & Elliena Bulmer, and Ub Yifu. About my topic for this month let me paste an extract of the Show Notes for this month:

Raul Crimson interviews artist Elros Tuominen about what Second Life means to him personally and as a creator. Part of the interview, conducted in Spanish, is related to how language in SL can be a barrier, but also an effective way to learn and practice different languages. Elros also comments on how much avatars represent the person behind the keyboard, and at the same time can evolve into independent personalities causing a loss of identity.

As i posted recently i’ve been working on an exhibit for SL7B, the event will be opened to public from June 21st to June 27th 2010. It will be full of events, if you want to be updated please, join the group “Second Life Birthday” inworld, visit the SL7B Wiki page or visit the SL7B residents blog.

Since the theme of this year’s event is “Unexpected Collaborations” i wanted my exhibit to be interactive, my personal theme is “Change and identity”, this way the “dome of cubes” that covers the exhibit changes every time someone touches any of the cubes. Also those stands that mix images of avatar appearances act only when somebody touches them, some like a child game.

This last days i’ve been working on an exhibit for SL7B, this is just a “sneak pic”.

I’ll report some more about it soon, well, deadline is June 18th and it will open June 21st.

Ursa Bazaar (SLurl) is a project for a commercial area Ganymedes Costagravas and me were working on for the last months. The idea for a commercial area, or a “not usual mall”, came some time ago, and i’m happy i found in Gany a great team mate.

Gany built a project full of detail, a dream fantasy-persian-indian palace full of colors. Paying special attention to the textures and details. Trees, plants and some spots around make the place even more beautiful.

There are 10 stores and a big space that will be used for events, art shows, temporary store… Until this moment Exodi by Ryker Beck, UrbaniZeD by pitsch Parx, Airtree by Honour McMillan and !BANG by Trieste Minuet are opening stores in the Bazaar… and some more great stores will come soon. As some of you may know i’m collaborating with Role Magazine now, writing about SLart (quite a big topic to talk about), you can take a look at my last article in this post at their blog

Also i’m working with my friend Ganymedes Costagravas in a store, a place to sale some of our creations. Still a lot to work together there, but that’s the pleasure, working with friends in some things. As soon as we have more information we will post about it.

Blogs with friends, building projects… for a long time i was kinda… how to say it?… not so motivated in SL. Now it seems this is about to change, we will see what happens.

Thanks to Eric Quimby, who donated the space, i’m running an small SL-photography show at Second Pride Festival 2009. Images by Silverdrake Sparrow, Lacie Babenco and myself about some  visions about “Gender” as a human issue. I’d like to paste here part of the notacard for the show:

Gender is one of the most important human topics. It defines us, personally and socially, and sometimes it can be hard to combine this two sides of it. What happens when the social and personal sides are not fitting? What if you accept your gender but not the social stereotypes?

In this space three SL-photographers tried to show some visions about Gender. Silverdrake Sparrow with her images about the stereotypes, asking why the heroine can’t save the boy instead of the tradition in culture. Raul Crimson talks about the social limits of gender with characters using crossed attributes or attitudes. Lacie Babenco with the power of gender to define us deeply and simply, the naked truth.

Gender is still an issue in a virtual world, even we all have the freedom to choose here the issues remain or even get bigger. Be free to be yourself, choose who you want to be and ask respect for your election.

It was opened on May 23rd and will be there for one week, while Second Pride Festival is running. I’d love if you visit it and share your opinion here, here you are the SLurl.

This year Second Pride will support the work of Amnesty International and their work against homophobia in the world, specially but not only in China, Middle East, Africa and Eastern and Central Europe. Is a good time to remember there are some countries were being homosexual is illegal and has penalties from being some months in jail, life in prison or even death penalty.
