Soup Radio will be in SL8B

Soup Radio for SL8B

Soup Radio at SL8B

Next June 20th it will start the SL8B (Second Life 8th Birthday) event. As every year we have the big party to celebrate how old is our world, and also as every year a group of residents will build amazing installations and will perform as DJs, musicians, comedians…

20 regions of art, experiences, music, community, fun and experiences! SL8B will be up from June 20th to June 26th, at least the activities. The buildings will be opened to visit until July 2nd. Anyway, the most important day is 23rd, the BIRTHDAY itself with a lot of ceremonies and events.

And… as the title of the post indicates and as you can see in the image in the top and here at left we, the team of Soup Radio, are working on our space for SL8B.

As you can imagine right now we can only show some images of details of what we are working on exactly, but you will see more in the event or in the pictures and videos we will publish after the opening.

We are REALLY excited about it and we are having fun building our space, we are almost done! Arahan blogged in the Soup Radio blog this:

The Second Life 8th Birthday (SL8B) takes place from June 20-26th 2011, and Soup Radio is taking part in the celebrations.

We’re using it as an opportunity to introduce the station to new listeners and explain what we’re all about, and with that in mind we’re working on creating a space where visitors can relax, listen to the current schedule, and browse information. We’re located in the Spellbound sim, do drop in if you’re in the area. Teleport here.
Also, our July schedule is going to be a SL8B special, we’ll be touring the sims, talking about our discoveries, including the good, the bad, the ugly, and our conclusions on the event. If you have a plot there do send us a landmark and we’ll definitely check it out for possible inclusion.
Separate from Soup Radio I’m DJing at the official stage on Thursday June 23rd from 10-11am SLT/PDT (6-7pm BST), would be great to see you there if you can make it.Teleport here.
With thanks to Raul CrimsonPenumbra CarterDekka Raymaker and Nebulosus Severine for their contributions and help with the build.

So if you go to SL8B, please, visit our space in there. I think you will enjoy it. I will blog more about SL8B and also we will speak a lot about SL8B this month in Soup Radio.

See you in the Birthday!

SL7B, some images and some comments

As you possibly read in older posts i took part this year in SL7B with an exhibit. It was wonderful to be part of this, and specially to receive IMs of people who visited it and took some minutes to express his opinion about the exhibit writing an IM. Thanks to all that people and thanks to all the ones who visited it.

The last time i took part in a Second Life Birthday was in SL4B, 3 years ago. It was a wonderful experience and met some of my best friends in there, while we were building the sets. In a conversation with some friends someone told SL4B was “the last totally free”, meaning the last where there was not big restrictions about content, where most of the sims were “Mature” or Moderate as we would say now. Maybe that was the reason to not take part in the last two years, not because i wanted to show something too mature, was just because the restrictions were totally weird, or too undefined in a way almost anything would be not permitted. This time SL7B was fully PG, but at least the limitations about content were clearly stated and there was not big dramas about it.

The only BIG drama was the reduction of 30% of the people working in Linden Lab and the surprise about the end of M Linden as CEO, but both of this things deserve a post apart (actually already blogged about M Linden and about Philip Linden being back).

I enjoyed a lot SL7B, there was a lot of garden space, the main stage was really nice surrounded of gardens and not so oversized as last year’s one (it was cool, but too big under my point of view). The other public buildings… well, the cake was not too nice and looked a bit 2007, didn’t liked much either the DL Stage 2 (the one like a tower building), but the DJ Stage 1, the Welcome Area, the Auditorium, the Bear Island and the Main Stage were REALLY cool. Most of the public buildings are works of the LDPW (Linden Department of Public Works).

Another really cool public exhibit was the Linden Endowment for Arts, a Linden initiative to promote art and creation in Second Life. Bryn Oh built a really interesting and beautiful installation for that space. Find updated information about the LEA project in this link. You can see this great machinima to see the installation:

About the spaces by other residents, there were some really interesting ones. Some about supporting people, like Anonymous Alcoholics, Relay for Life… Some about music, education, culture, countries… about Role Play, about Burning Life…

Really hope you enjoyed this SL7B, and hope to see you there again in SL8B.

Identity Crisis? @ SL7B

As i posted recently i’ve been working on an exhibit for SL7B, the event will be opened to public from June 21st to June 27th 2010. It will be full of events, if you want to be updated please, join the group “Second Life Birthday” inworld, visit the SL7B Wiki page or visit the SL7B residents blog.

Since the theme of this year’s event is “Unexpected Collaborations” i wanted my exhibit to be interactive, my personal theme is “Change and identity”, this way the “dome of cubes” that covers the exhibit changes every time someone touches any of the cubes. Also those stands that mix images of avatar appearances act only when somebody touches them, some like a child game.

Please, visit the exhibit following this SLurl, but you should do it during the dates indicated above.

I wanted to thanks specially Gahum Riptide, Zinc Karas, Ganymedes Costagravas and Eliza Wierwight for their help, their time and their creativity. Also thanks to Vasean Talamasca and CodeBastard Redgrave for their support.

SL7B is nearly here!

As i posted before i’m working this days in my exhibit in SL7B, so i wanted to share this cool machinima made my Toxic Menges with some images of the main buildings of SL7B.

Remember SL7B will open next June 21st to June 27th! Find more info in the SL Wiki or in the SL7B residents blog.

Identity Crisis?… soon at SL7B
