The MoM opening ceremony

Some days ago i posted about the Month of Machinima (MoM) event organized by the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA). A film of the opening ceremony was posted in YouTube by Chantal Harvey, wanted to share it with you. And remember to submit your machinimas to the festival!

WaterCycle @ Burn2

This year i wanted to be part of Burn2, maybe because it was not a “Linden Event” for the first time, maybe because i always liked it and wanted to be part of it. Anyway, this year finally did it!

Burn2 LogoMy installation, called WaterCycle (you can see it in the video above) is about water and the use of it by humans creating a “perfect movement” ideal machine that taking water from a pond should transform it in clouds to cause rain to refill the pond.

Burn2 has ended, but you can still visit the installation for the next few days in this SLurl.

Honour McMillan wrote in her blog some really interesting posts about Burn2.

The "art gallery rush"

In some other posts (if you want to see them take a look at the Second Life® Art category of my blog) i talked and even joked about the growth of art galleries inworld.

This time this won’t be an “opinion post” just the show of some facts that i found really interesting. First you can see the graphic in this post (is not up-to-date, is based on information of Sep 2008).

The lastest updated information (Oct, 20th 2008) says they are registered 428 Art Galleries, 88 Photography Galleries and 37 Erotic Galleries, that means 553 total galleries inworld. Anyway, the source for this information is a public Live Database created by Sasun Steinbeck (she is doing a great work with it). Last time i checked the database there was 609 galleries.

Anyway that 609 galleries are only the ones in Sasun’s database, so we can consider there are some more running right now outside the database inworld. Of course i can’t give a right number about it, but i think they won’t be much more, that database is really complete. Maybe we can consider a number between 700 or 800 galleries inworld.

Das Glashaus – Exhibition by Andromega Volare and Iam Yumako

Yesterday visited the exhibition of iam Yumako and Andromega Volare at Das Glashaus. What a nice surprise!

I know the work of Andromega, he is, under my point of view, one of the best photography “landscapers” of Second Life, his work goes from the surreal to the beauty of a sunset. The big surprise was the work of iam Yumako, i know him a bit from Flickr, but seeing in-world some of him works was a delightful surprise!

Both creators together are a perfect complement, the surreal world of Andromega next to the personal universe of Iam.

Is really good to see creators like this in Second Life, you know, when i was a bit tired of seeing always the same in SLphotography then i see this exhibition and my faith is renewed. ;-)

And i was so lucky because i met Iam there, he was really nice and gave me a personal tour in the gallery… and well, as you can see in that pic, he is superCUTE!!!

iam Yumako The building of the exhibition, Das Glashaus, is built by Iam. Some Windlight settings are recommended in a notecard at the arriving, please, try to use them in order to enjoy the exhibition as the creators imagined it.

Please, follow this SLurl to arrive to the exhibition.

As i know the work of two of the artist i really suggest you visit Arthole, possibly one of the most interesting art spaces in Second Life.
